The route of the Arquillas looks new after its rehabilitation

Summer has brought many good news that to the city of Antequera. One especially exciting has been the brand new image of the Sendero de las Arquillas. The famous trail, one of the busiest in the city, looks more beautiful than ever after the adaptation and rehabilitation works that have been carried out and since the month of July has received hundreds of new hikers.

The improvement works have been carried out thanks to a grant from the Provincial Council of Malaga, and in addition to giving all new visitors a new and beautiful picture of this itinerary, has made it possible for it to be approved by Federación Andaluza de Montañismo.

Rains and good weather have been very beneficial for the road and its surroundings this year, but also the good results of the generalized clearing work and the adequacy of the fencing and signaling have been added. In fact, the Sendero de las Arquillas is going to connect with one of the main natural attractions of the province, the Gran Senda de Málaga, with which it will connect through a variant with Valle de Abdalajís.

To check the good condition of the route, on July 5, the mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, the deputy mayor of Tourism, Belén Jiménez, the deputy mayor of Environment, Juan Álvarez and the provincial deputy of Environment and Promotion of the Territory, María Bravo. They indicated that this rehabilitation has had a triple objective: to comply with the regulations of Federación Andaluza de Montañismo for its approval; recover and beautify the path and also allow its connection with the Gran Senda de Málaga soon.

The renovated path, which leads to the door of Hotel Convento la Magdalena, offers breathtaking views of the Alcázar stream, El Torcal de Antequera, the Camorro Alto and the port of La Escaleruela, among others, in a 90-minute tour.
